Park Views, Sunlight, and Worn Tights
NOTICE:
I am feeling as if I'm living in a modern-day victorian "Sunday afternoon." (It's actually Wednesday, but one wouldn't know.) People are out and about, taking grams of the most exciting thing they might have done the entire week. There are more parkgoers than usual, probably due to the fact that Christmas was only a few days ago. Babies and children are expressing their concerns. There are fancy cars lined up against the curb of the fancy restaurants and cafés filled with fancy people. Rich businessmen and their wives drink their expensive wine pairings, while the less fortunate try to conform. There are all types of people here, however. The vitamin-filled sunlight fills each resident's step with a little more enlightenment than before. This park is inspirational to a certain degree. Even if someone doesn't have what the more fortunate display, at least they believe they might have it one day. I think this is why I come here, even in my worn black tights. I may not feel significant enough yet, but I hope to find that feeling someday.
But, is that the end goal I truly want? I wonder if the rest of the population here ask themselves the same question. Why are we looking for these things? Why are we chasing this lifestyle? Maybe it's luxurious or it displays a certain power of sorts. Humans love power. The irony in this is that the people who come here do not have any less power than their more fortunate counterparts. Yet, they are still chasing a feeling they believe will make an appearance while being at this ordinary park.
One does not necessarily need to come here to feel power. Power comes from within the soul. I have yet to feel completely powerful in my lifetime, but I am getting close. The most powerful moments I have experienced have been in times where my goals have become bigger or my actions stronger. I recently chose to improve my diet and exercise regime. I have set firmer boundaries with my already healthy relationships. I have resisted temptation and stuck to my values. This is why the powerful stay powerful. They practice these things daily and it shows in their career, in their public appearance. They save their money and spend it on interesting and valuable things. They marry those with honorable accomplishments. They only feed their bodies the finest ingredients. Please keep in mind that these observations are generalized. All thoughts I have will probably change as I grow and develop, as they should. Yet, this is not a reason to refuse to write about them. Continue to critique your life and career choices. Continue to question whether or not the park you've been going to is preventing you from actually getting that "feeling" you're chasing. Comparison is one thing the elite do not do. They, rather, compare their current self to the self they want to be and they chase that. Success is for those who do this.
Aside from my opinion on the politics of Wednesday outings, I was quite surprised by the fashion choices displayed today. It was, at times, difficult to find an outfit that was complete in every form. For those I did find completely significant, I photographed (with permission, of course). Those worthy of attention are listed here:
